Passport renewal application for a child over the age of 12 and for an adult can be submitted in the following ways:
APPLYING VIA THE SELF-SERVICE PORTAL
If you have access to e-services (ID-card, Mobile-ID or Smart-ID), the most low-cost and easiest way to renew documents is through the self-service portal.
If the application is for a child aged 12+ and the child has not given their fingerprints previously, an application can only be submitted at the embassy (please see below for instructions). The child needs to be present in order to provide fingerprint images.
APPLYING BY POST
Fingerprint images must be valid in the Estonian Police and Border Guard information system in order to apply for documents by post. The validity of fingerprint images can be checked HERE.
Fingerprints do not need to be provided by children under 12 and from 01.09.2023 Estonian citizens who are physically unable to (long-term) submit an application at the embassy and who have given fingerprints within the last 11 years. The citizen must add a medical certificate (in Estonian or in English) to the application form and send it by post to the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board.
In order to apply by post, you need to prepare and complete the following:
